GWS director Jimmy Bartel says as much as Giants star Toby Greene has a rap sheet "as long as his arm", it shouldn't count against him when he challenges a one-week ban at the tribunal.
Greene was handed the suspension for "making unreasonable or unnecessary contact to the eye region" of Brisbane midfielder Lachie Neale in Saturday's semi-final victory at the Gabba.
The 25-year-old was massive for GWS in the 83-80 win, but he also maintained his reputation of provoking the ire of match review officials.
Greene finds himself back at the tribunal only a week after his direct referral on a misconduct charge after several incidents where he made contact with the face of Western Bulldogs star Marcus Bontempelli.
Greene pleaded guilty at the tribunal last Monday and was fined $7500, the latest in a long list of fines incurred.
"Obviously we're going to the tribunal to front up and put our case forward," Bartel said on Macquarie Sports Radio on Monday.
"There's no loading or previous record taken into account - as much as Toby Greene's got a rap sheet as long as his arm, it doesn't matter.
"As much as people are still annoyed about last week and thought he should've got weeks, it doesn't matter.
"It doesn't mean he gets a week this week because you thought he should've got a week last week."
Bartel is mystified by Greene's one-week ban considering the vision available.
"I can't tell the difference because I can't see anything," he said.
Match reviewer Michael Christian said the incident with Neale was judged on its merits and there was no connection with last week's charge.
