AN eighties musical take on Shakespeare will be Bede Polding College's first foray into musical performances since 2013.
The school musical crew will be performing 'A Midsummer Musical' on Thursday 19, Friday 20 and Saturday 21 September at 7pm each night at the Good Samaritan Hall at the school, and the community is invited to come along and support the team.
Teacher Claire Claxton said it was a "unique musical with some fantastic 80s tunes that will be well known and loved - quite the toe-tapping singalong!"
"Our Creative and Performing Arts staff and students are very excited to pioneer this unique combination of Shakespeare and 80s music for the viewing pleasure of our local community," she said.
The musical rendition of 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' by William Shakespeare will reportedly incorporate "groovy" disco tunes from the 80s - a reimagining of Shakespeare for a contemporary audience.
The production is made up entirely of students. There are 24 from Years 9 to 12 in the cast, plus a range of younger students helping in different areas including five musicians, six designers and 10 backstage crew members.
"The cast and musicians have been rehearsing since March, and the designers have been painting sets since June," Ms Claxton said.
Tickets are $10 for general admission, or book a group of five tickets for $30.
