Hawkesbury local Daniel Karp-Law has taken over the management of well-known Richmond takeaway store, Big Red Hen.
The experienced chef said he "jumped at the opportunity to revitalise an iconic local landmark that represents celebration time with family and friends".
He has spent the past 12 years working in a variety of restaurants, cafes and pubs across Sydney, mastering many cuisines from fine dining to fast food.
Mr Karp-Law grew up in the Hawkesbury and attended Colo High School.
He was involved in the Scouts as well as a range of sports.
He said he has brought his partner Madison and toddler Isaac back to live in the community "knowing it will provide a nurturing environment and wholesome family values".
"I love that the Richmond area has a real sense of community spirit and people are friendly and welcoming," Mr Karp-Law said.
"People go out of their way in the Hawkesbury to do nice things for total strangers and it is really heart-warming to see.
"The schools are excellent in the area, there are great open spaces and nature is not too far away.
"And the Richmond Oval is breathtaking in full sun. Big Red Hen has the best view in Richmond."

The store has been open since July, sourcing quality local suppliers, training staff and refining its recipes.
Mr Karp-Law said the menu's main focus was on chicken, offering roasts, nuggets and schnitzel, but there are also seasonal salads, hamburgers, wraps, sandwiches, pies and hot chips.
They can cater for small and large functions and other meats can be ordered by request.
There are special $10 deals during the week which include Cheesy Chips Tuesday, Wild Wing Wednesday, Parmi and Chips Thursday and Burger Friday.
"All food is prepared fresh daily on the premises," Mr Karp-Law said. "Our chickens come in fresh from the farm and there is no long storage in warehouses. It's best to ring in to secure your dinner order in advance so we can have it ready for you to pick up."
The Big Red Hen has also partnered with Menulog so home delivery is available.
"I am enjoying getting to know all of our customers, so drop in for a snack or meal and say hello," Mr Karp-Law said.
You will find the Big Red Hen at 199 Windsor Street, Richmond, opposite the park and near the pedestrian crossing.
