The Macquarie Electorate Student Activists (MESCA) are leading students of the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury on another strike for our climate.
The strike, to be held on September 20, follows both Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains Councils declaring 'climate emergencies' earlier this year.
"We will continue to strike until we see our politicians unite behind the science and act according to the scale of this crisis," said a statement from MESCA.
"Our strike requests include: 1. No new coal, oil and gas projects, including the Adani mine; 2. 100 per cent renewable energy generation & exports by 2030; 3. Fund a just transition & job creation for all fossil-fuel workers & communities."
Hawkesbury students involved in MESCA from various high schools in the area initially partook in the School Strike for Climate on Friday, March 15, joining thousands of students and their adult supporters in Sydney.
On Friday, May 2, students from MESCA joined hundreds of thousands around Australia and the world striking again for climate.
The strikes are organised to raise awareness about government's inaction on climate change policy.
Students sacrifice their education on these strikes in a bid to pressure Federal Government to commit to "urgent climate action", the MESCA statement said.
"We, as a student group, are leading and organising one of many Strikes on September 20, though this time, it is not just students attending. We invite everyone from all walks of life to take part, to make our concerns heard in government and in business," they said.
"This is a unique general strike, in that it is not only workers showing their support, but business leaders too. Many companies including Atlassian and the Big Four Banks, as well as many unions, have declared their support for workers attending the strikes.
"Whilst striking is not ideal, we are compelled to act by the inaction of our government, and governments around the world, to secure our future and ensure intergenerational equality and sustainability."
Strikers will meet at the Springwood Hub Forecourt at 11am on Friday, September 20. They encourage other strikers to catch public transport to the strike and do their bit to save carbon emissions from cars.
