Air Force training in NSW for Exercise Teak Action 19 departing from Richmond RAAF Base

United States Air Force (USAF) personnel will conduct training missions at airfields across New South Wales alongside Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) counterparts for Exercise Teak Action 19.

MC-130J Commando II aircraft and USAF personnel from the 353rd Special Operations Group will work with the RAAF's No. 37 Squadron and its fleet of C-130J Hercules transport aircraft.

The USAF personnel participating in Exercise Teak Action 19 are amongst the world's most highly-skilled in their role, and the training will ensure both countries are prepared to support contingency operations at short notice.

Flying activity will be similar to the training regularly conducted by RAAF Hercules crews, and will entail low-level and formation flying, airdrop of cargo and paratroops, and flying to semi-prepared airfields.

All efforts will be undertaken to avoid overflying built-up areas and communities.

DATE: 14 August to 8 September 2019.

VENUE: Flying will take place from RAAF Base Richmond and will encompass Blue Mountains and regional New South Wales, including airfields at Gilgandra, Lake Cargelligo, Warren and Walcha.

TIME: All flying is expected to be completed by 11pm.
