A dirt bike rider has been taken hospital in a serious condition via helicopter after colliding with a fence near Londonderry.
The man aged in his 20s was thrown off the bike after hitting the fence in the afternoon of Sunday, July 14, a statement from the CareFlight helicopter service said.
"The male rider sustained suspected chest and abdominal injuries as well as injuries to his shoulder when the dirt bike he was riding near Londonderry, hit a fence and he was thrown off his bike," the statement said.
"CareFlight's rapid response rescue helicopter was tasked just before 4pm ... landing on a dirt road about 400 metres away from the crash site where they joined NSW Ambulance, NSW Police and Rural Fire Service crews.
"CareFlight's specialist doctor and critical care paramedic intubated the rider at the scene to stabilise him before taking the patient aboard the helicopter."
The man was flown to Westmead Hospital in a serious condition, the statement said.
