HEAD to Riverside Theatres Parramatta this school holidays to see Hawkesbury's Henderson family perform in Cumberland Gang Show's 50 Years Together - a show by the Scouts and Guides of Western Sydney.
Father Geoff Henderson and his children, Laura, 12, James, 10, and Andrew, 8 - all members of 1st Grose Vale Scout Group - will perform eight shows from Friday, July 12 until Saturday, July 20.
Mr Henderson is the Deputy Region Commissioner (Greater Western Sydney) of Scouts NSW and has been part of the Scouts and Guides performing arts group for over 20 years, as a volunteer working behind the scenes and a former cast member.
Cumberland Gang Show's first show was in 1970 and this year, as part of their 50th birthday celebrations, former cast members were able to audition and are known as the 'Legend' cast.
Mr Henderson is part of the Legend cast this year and he and his children will join more than 180 Scouts and Guides aged seven to adult in the show, which will be set to live music from a 20-piece orchestra.
Mr Henderson said: "Being back in the Gang as part of the Legend Cast has allowed me the opportunity to be on stage with my kids, sharing a fantastic experience but also the chance to mentor other young people in the performing arts."
"Gang Show has being building self confidence in the youth of Western Sydney for 50 years," he said.
For young cast members like the Henderson children, being part of the show helps them build their confidence in the performing arts and is also a fun experience that they will remember as adults.
The two-hour show is packed with live, fast-moving, musical comedy theatre. It is reportedly loads of fun, with fantastic sets and costumes, and is perfect family entertainment full of singing, dancing and comedy.
"Join in our birthday celebrations this July school holidays and be transported with a bedtime story about Vikings and dragons, a dance evolution, amazing science where nerds rule, life as a superhero and fun for all at the circus," said the organisers.
Cumberland Gang Show 50 Years Together Musical Variety Performance will be on at the Riverside Theatres Parramatta, corner of Church and Market Streets, Parramatta.
Kicking off this Friday, there will be 11am, 2pm and 7.30pm shows during the week-long season.
Tickets are $21 for children and $37 for adults. A premium VIP Package is available, which includes a backstage tour.
