Bilpin Based cider company, Hillbilly Cider, has just released a brand new non-alcoholic root ginger with apple cider in response to a growing demand in Australia for sophisticated non-alcoholic beverages.
The local cider company has an internationally award-winning range of different styles of alcoholic cider. To date, the line had included only one non-alcoholic crushed apple cider.
Head cider maker, Shane McLaughlin, explains, "When we launched the company in 2012, our non-alcoholic cider was one of the first products we released.
"In fact, we were the first cider company to release a non-alcoholic cider made with 100% fresh crushed apples."
But in recent times a noticeable shift in consumer demand for quality, grown-up alternatives to alcoholic drinks has seen phenomenal growth in this segment.
"It's not just about abstaining in 'Dry July' or 'Ocsober' - there's an increased awareness about the need to consume alcohol in moderation full stop," said Mr McLaughlin.
"This has placed the spotlight on non-alcoholic alternatives like ours.
"In fact, CUB (Carlton & United Breweries) announced earlier this month that non-alcohol, low alcohol and mid strength beer now make up a quarter of CUB sales."
Mr McLaughlin began to experiment with different types of natural flavour combinations as he tried to move with the growing demand.
After his first taste of the ginger and apple cider together, he knew he had a winner.
"The warmth of ginger and the refreshing taste of apple cider beautifully complement each other," he said. "Everyone who tastes it describes the warming 'zing' they experience with their first sip. It's a natural, delicious choice when compared to artificial soft drinks on the market."
Made from 100 per cent whole crushed apples with ginger root it is completely natural with no artificial flavourings.
"We had adults in mind when we created our non-alcoholic cider, but it has proven very popular with parents who buy it for their children as a non-artificial, special treat," said Hillbilly co-owner Tessa McLaughlin.
"We sponsor our daughters' under 10's soccer team and celebrate the end of each season with a refreshing non-alcoholic Hillbilly cider. The kids love it."
Hillbilly non-alcoholic cider with ginger manages to combine the freshness of apples and the warmth of ginger that will satisfy all cider drinkers as cooler months continue to roll in.
