Hawkesbury locals gathered at Windsor to observe National Sorry Day on Friday, with a smoking ceremony and tree planting at Macquarie Park.
The community event was hosted by Darug Custodian Aboriginal Corporation, Indigenous community volunteers, Mad Mob Aboriginal Corporation, Merana Aboriginal Community Association for the Hawkesbury, Hawkesbury City Council and St John of God Health Care Services.
National Sorry Day is an Australia-wide observance held on May 26 each year.
This day gives the community the chance to remember, reflect and share stories of our children and loved ones who were taken from their families.
It is also an opportunity to come together to further the healing process for families and communities.
