Hawkesbury trained mare gets a win at an elite level in Morpehttville

Although a long time between drinks, Frazer paid tribute to his patient owners and son, Jordan, who traveled with the mare again to capture her maiden Group One victory.

"Jordan rides Spright and has travelled everywhere (Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide) with her and it was also fantastic to win for good owners," said Frazer.

The veteran Hawkesbury trainer's earlier Group 1 triumphs were the 1995 Queensland Derby (Mick Dittman) at Eagle Farm and George Main Stakes (Bill Aspros) at Royal Randwick with Turridu, and 1999 Champagne Stakes at Randwick with Quick Star.

Quick Star's rider Damien Oliver also partnered Spright yesterday, notching his 117th Group 1 success.

Frazer also paid tribute to his classy mare, who took her earnings to $1,268,095 with six wins and nine placings from only 29 starts.

"Spright started off as a two-year-old in a Black Type race (Group 3 Widden Stakes at Rosehill Gardens in January, 2016) and has raced in the best company every season since. She is a remarkable mare, and can produce an unbelievable sprint when she gets a race run to suit.

"She certainly deserved that Group 1," said a buoyant Frazer after the win.

Prior to yesterday's breakthrough, Spright had won three Group 3's and had been placed twice at Group 1 level, in Melbourne.

She is remaining in Adelaide to chase another 1200m Group 1 on Saturday week at the same track - the $750,000 Goodwood, for which she is now favourite.

Under the set weights and penalties conditions, Spright will carry 56.5kg against all comers; the same as she carried in decisively beating her own sex yesterday.

"Spright has pulled up really well," Frazer said. "We may as well stay there and have a crack at The Goodwood."

Frazer has also nominated Spright for the $1.5m Group 1 Stradbroke Handicap (1400m) at Eagle Farm on June 8, and intends to enter her for the $500,000 Group 1 WFA Tattersall's Tiara (1400m) against her own sex at the same track on June 22.

Spright's Group 1 performances will no doubt attract interest from slot owners for the $14 million The Everest (1200m) which wil run at Randwick on October 18.
