Richmond High School has learning as its core value which is supported through a safe and respectful environment where students have a range of opportunities to develop and demonstrate their success.
The school is situated on 10-hectares of park-like playground areas and sporting fields and has a new multi-purpose hall which features a sports court area and performing arts facilities.
With a long and proud history in the Hawkesbury region, the school enjoys strong community links with many organisations including Rotary, Richmond Players and the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group.
Richmond High also maintains strong links to the five local primary schools and has collaborative programs in literacy, numeracy and transition to high school programs.
Additionally, there is always strong consultation with the parent community to support the various opportunities available at the school.
Literacy and numeracy programs have been developed to enable students to access learning in their subject areas.
This is supported by staff development where university consultants work with staff to produce programs which meet the needs of students.
In 2018, the success of such programs was recognised with the NSW Premier's Award for Public Service, which was linked to student growth in NAPLAN testing from Year 7 to Year 9.
The school has invested resources into establishing the use of technology to engage students in learning.
This has included readiness for the Bring Your Own Device program as well as establishing STEM courses and resources.
And a 3D printing room allows students in a variety of subjects to design and develop prototypes to solve real world problems.
Enrichment programs provide an opportunity for Gifted and Talented students to extend themselves beyond the classroom and take on project based learning on issues of their choice.
The English Enrichment program is well established and includes a showcase of the products and solutions which students have created that are shared with the community.
The school has many extra-curricula programs that enable students to take up opportunities in the creative and performing arts, agriculture, hospitality, textiles, the Duke of Edinburgh Award program and a diverse range of sport.
Student Leadership opportunities are available through the Student Representative Council and programs which enable students to have a voice in shaping the future of the school.
