A 17-year-old is in a serious but stable condition in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash at North Richmond this evening (Saturday).
The crash happened on Bells Line of Road east of North Richmond bridge before 6pm tonight (March 23), and the CareFlight rapid response helicopter was tasked to the scene soon afterwards.
"NSW Police were required to stop a cricket game at Panthers North Richmond to allow the helicopter to land, before conveying CareFlight's medical team to the scene," a CareFlight statement said.
"SES crews worked carefully to free the young man, who remained trapped in the one of the vehicles for about 30 minutes.
"CareFlight's specialist doctor and critical care paramedic assessed and provided treatment to the patient who suffered injuries to his lower body.
"Observation was continued by the CareFlight medical team as the patient was transported via road ambulance to Westmead in a serious but stable condition."
Two other patients were assessed and transported to hospital via road under the observation of NSW Ambulance crews, the statement said.
