Traffic conditions will change from next week on George Street at Windsor as part of the Windsor Bridge replacement project.
The first stage of the work will be carried out from Monday, March 25 for up to three weeks, and will see the eastbound lane of George Street closed for around 30 metres from the roundabout, a statement from Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) said.
Detours will be in place via Court and Arndell streets, RMS stated.
"Changed traffic conditions and detours will be in place to allow preparation work to be carried out safely at the intersection of George and Bridge streets," the statement said.
"Work will involve installing traffic lights, building new kerb and gutter, line marking as well as paving and asphalting the road surface.
"The work will be carried out in two stages from March 25 and is expected to be completed by mid May, weather permitting."
During the first stage of work, motorists will be permitted to turn left onto Court Street from Windsor Road between 4pm and 6pm on weekdays.
"While the second stage of work is carried out from Monday, April 15 for up to four weeks, the westbound lane of George Street will be closed for around 30 metres from the roundabout," RMS stated.
"Motorists will not be able to enter Windsor Road from George Street and will be detoured via Arndell and Court streets.
"The installation of install concrete barriers and line marking will be carried out from 6pm to 5am on weekdays, for the safety of motorists and workers and limit the impact to the road network.
"All other work will be carried out from 7am to 6pm on weekdays and from 8am to 1pm on Saturdays, excluding public holidays."
Lane closures, traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.
Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the direction of all signs and traffic control. For traffic updates, download the Live Traffic NSW App, visit livetraffic.com or call 132 701.
