A development application (DA) for more than $19 million worth of works associated with the proposed hotel at Richmond Club has been lodged with Hawkesbury City Council.
The DA for the part demolition of existing club structures, the proposed hotel with basement car park, parking and landscaping works, and licensed bar area was submitted to Hawkesbury City Council on Thursday, March 7.
Richmond Club group CEO Kimberley Talbot said the 114-room, 4.5 star hotel would create jobs and stimulate tourism to help boost the area's economy.
"We are just delighted that the DA has been finally submitted. It's been a process with the town planning to make sure everything is in sync with our area," she told the Gazette. "I think they came up with a really fabulous design."
The club signed off on a deal with South Australian property development and investment company Axiom Properties in 2017 to buy part of its land to build the hotel. Axiom agreed to purchase the 2212-square-metre site, which includes the bowling green and gym, to build the hotel.
Hotel developer Estilo Group was announced as the operator for the project in February 2018 to undertake construction, commissioning and management.
Once construction is underway, the club will also begin a $2.8 million refurbishment fit out of function rooms that will link through to the hotel, complementing local conference, corporate and business facilities.
Estilo Group sales manager Ian Duperouzel told the Gazette the modular build hotel would include a lobby and cafe.
"The hotel will be four storeys with full in room automation control and will include self-check in/out," he said.
"We can't say at this stage which international hotel brand will be operating the facility."
The development is predicted to create more than 100 jobs during construction and 50 hotel jobs once completed.
The project is estimated to cost about $19.1 million, according to the DA.
