Kurrajong-Comleroy Historical Society will be holding a tour of the old Richmond-Kurrajong Railway, which hosted the train known by the locals as 'Pansy' with the line often being called the Pansy Line.
The tour starts at Richmond Park, where from 1926 to 1952 the line continued on as an extension of the Richmond Branch Line (the first branch line in NSW 1864). It then cut across the corner of the park and ran along the side of March Street.
Most of the tour is on a coach, but there is some level walking involved.
David Griffiths, president of Kurrajong-Comleroy Historical Society, said: “Having been gone for so long it is getting difficult to find many remnants but our experienced local guides can show you what there is. Many of the best bits are on private property, not normally accessible.”
Lunch is a steak sandwich, fruit and cake courtesy of the Kurrajong Rural Fire Service.
The tour will take place on Sunday, April 28, from 10am until 3.30pm.
The cost is $36 for adults, $33 for seniors and $25 for children.
