Local racing team, TR Marine, was the outright winner of the Southern 80 Ski Race which took place on February 9 and 10 at Victoria Park, Echuca, Victoria.
The weekend saw many Hawkesbury based racers across the different levels of skiing attend Echuca for the competition.
TR Marine Racing Team set an amazing time of 29 minutes and 22 seconds, setting a new record for the Southern 80.
They managed to shave around 21 seconds off of the record set four years ago, before a new speed cap and restrictions on skiers.
They won under the rules of skiers not being allowed to race outside of the wash and by not travelling over 120 miles per hour. This is a large achievement at what is considered to be one of Australia’s biggest ski races.
The team is made up of driver Ian Tricker, observer Nathan Miller, and skiers Reece Simmonds and Raymond Ball.
There were some other highlights from Hawkesbury locals as Michael Boylan and Brian Farrell, alongside James and Shantelle King came first in the Sportsman Class in the boat Superbad.
Gregory Houston, Danny Cropper, Cameron Osborne and Bradley Osmotherly in Stinga came second in the Unlimited Inboard Expert.
Team Cosmos made up of Dave McMillan, Cameron McKenzie, Samuel McKenzie and Jack Holmes took out first in the Under 14 Boys Expert.
Jarred Jarvis, Craig Lalor, Telicia Lalor and Tijana Lalor took home second place in the Under 14 Girls.
This was a great achievement as the girls are relatively new to competing.
