Sydney are determined to preserve their record of not losing back-to-back A-League games this season, when they host Adelaide on Sunday.
The third-placed Sky Blues fell six points behind leaders Perth after losing 3-1 away to Glory last week.
"The sign of a great team is how good they bounce back and respond to disappointment," Sydney striker Adam Le Fondre told AAP.
"I think you're going to see the character of us and hopefully it will come out Sunday and we'll be firing."
Adelaide are coming off an outstanding 2-0 home win over defending champions Melbourne Victory, but since then have had to respond to reports their coach Marco Kurz might consider leaving the club.
The club put out a statement saying Kurz and the club mutually agreed to discuss his future later in the season.
"The club and I have agreed to discuss my future later in the season and it is not a priority of mine to be focusing time and energy on anything but our next game and then the games after that," Kurz said.
Adelaide and Sydney have already clashed twice this season in different competitions, with Sydney not winning either of the games held in October.
The teams drew 1-1 in Adelaide in the opening round and United scored a 2-1 win at the same venue in the FFA Cup final less than two weeks later.
"They are a tough team, they press really well," Le Fondre said.
"Every team has come and pressed, obviously they don't want us to get into a flow.
"Because you've seen when we do get into a flow, a lot of times in the second half we dominate the game and take the game away from teams.
"(We want) to establish that flow earlier on to control the game from the first minute rather than the 45th minute and letting teams have a chance against us.
"We need to stamp our authority on the game early doors."
Adelaide attacking star Craig Goodwin scored twice in the FFA Cup final, but Le Fondre warned Sydney couldn't just concentrate on that player.
"They've got good players there who can all cause problems for us,' Le Fondre said.
"I don't think you can just say; let's just mark him and we'll be alright."
