Brisbane Roar interim coach Darren Davies admits he has no idea how long he will be holding the A-League club's reins.
A long list of contenders have emerged for the Roar gig as Davies prepares for his fourth game at the helm since John Aloisi's shock exit - Friday night's clash with Melbourne City at AAMI Park.
Roar managing director David Pourre and football director Pedj Radinovic this week left for Indonesia to meet with the club's Jakarta-based board and owners to consider potential replacements.
Former Central Coast boss Paul Okon, Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler, ex-Socceroo Kasey Wehrman, former Roar defender Karl Dodd and ex-Adelaide City mentor Damian Mori are believed to be among the contenders.
An official replacement for Aloisi may be announced after Pourre and Radinovic return from overseas on Friday.
But Davies admitted he had not received any official word on how long he had left in his tenure.
"You will have to ask the club that one," he said.
"I don't know how long it is going to be but I am going to do my best for as long as I am here."
Davies' main priority was trying to get his first win after a heartbreaking 4-2 last round loss to ladder leaders Perth Glory at Suncorp Stadium.
Davies looked set to finally savour success on Sunday when Brisbane snatched a shock 2-0 halftime lead over Perth thanks to an Adam Taggart brace.
But the match was turned on its ear after Roar defender Daniel Bowles was sent off in the 58th minute with a revitalised Glory banging in four second half goals against a 10-man Brisbane.
Besides his future, Davies also couldn't give a definitive answer on when former Socceroos defender Luke DeVere would again feature for Brisbane.
DeVere is yet to play a game this season and has been given no guarantees against Melbourne City despite their defensive stocks being depleted by Bowles' automatic suspension and an injury to Avraam Papadopoulos (glute).
Brisbane have conceded 18 goals in their past seven matches.
Jacob Pepper, Aaron Reardon and Connor O'Toole are believed to be in line to fill Brisbane's two centre-back spots against City.
Asked why DeVere had not played yet, Davies said: "I don't think that is for the public forum to be honest.
"But Luke is training well, he is a good professional.
"We pick a team on a game to game basis."
