Every year car lovers across Australia descend on Canberra over four days in January for the biggest horsepower party in the southern hemisphere – the Summernats.

The event attracts more than 100,000 people keen to witness 2000 of the most incredible cars in the country compete in a range of high-octane competitions.

Summernats 32, from Thursday, January 3 to Sunday, January 6, will be no different, with a world record attempt, rocking concerts and a packed program for entrants and crowds alike.

Summernats co-owner Andy Lopez said the four-day party of muscle cars, music and entertainment was an event every Australian should put on their bucket list, every single year.

“Summernats is an assault on the senses and to experience it for yourself is something else,” Mr Lopez said. “ We have been working hard, listening to the fans and entrants and have built in even more value, variety and spectacle to the ‘Nats. It’s going to be huge.”

A Guniess World Record attempt for the the largest simultaneous tyre burnout will be a highlight this year.

Summernats previously held the record of 103 cars, but in 2017 Saudi Arabia stole the crown with an impressive 119-car burnout. With pride at stake, the Summernats team are determined to reclaim Australia’s place as burnout masters of the world. The  record attempt will take place Friday at the iconic ‘Nats burnout pad.

The street parade that each year heralds the start of the Summernats will be bigger and better than ever. Up to 400 immaculate street machines, hot rods and performance cars will rumble down Northbourne Avenue in front of thousands of local families, city workers and event visitors.

The all new Skid Lane is an exciting addition allowing heavily modified beasts can unleash their horsepower away from the burnout pad, and do it safely in front of crowds lining Tuff Street.
