Bulldogs case in court after Mad Monday

The players were charged with wilful and obscene exposure after a photographer for Sydney newspaper The Daily Telegraph snapped them nude on the balcony of the Harbour View Hotel at The Rocks in early September.

Their lawyers each appeared on their behalf for a mention at Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday and sought an adjournment to December when they're expected to enter pleas.

Fine's lawyer, Elias Tabchouri, told reporters outside court the indication at this stage was that his client was expected to enter a guilty plea.

"We've still got to resolve it, but that's probably the way it's going to go," he said.

Mr Tabchouri, who at one point asked journalists if they were suggesting "locker room behaviour is somehow a crime", said he was disappointed over the case and it shouldn't be in court.

"The only reason (both matters) are before the courts is not because some member of the public saw something and reported it, it's because the media's prying eyes ... through telescopic lenses, invaded a private function," he said.

"Everyone knew what they were going to be doing. Everyone knew that they were going to be drinking alcohol.

"These are young men who are letting their hair down in the simple circumstances that have been organised by the club and it should never have ever come to where it's come today."

He described his 26-year-old client as "a young boy who is just trying to cope with the scrutiny and pressure this has brought into their lives".

The Daily Telegraph's editor Ben English in a statement to AAP said the celebrations were in a public place and could be seen from the street, which was where the photographer was standing when the images were taken.

Fine and Elliott were also fined $25,000 by the Bulldogs with $10,000 suspended following the Mad Monday celebrations. The club, meanwhile, was slapped with a $250,000 fine by the NRL but that was later halved.
