Author Patsy Trench will launch her second book, A Country To Be Reckoned With, at Hawkesbury Regional Museum on November 24.
Once again, the work focuses on her favourite subject, her family history.
It serves as the sequel to 2012’s The Worst Country in the World, which centred on the life of her four times great grandmother, pioneer settler Mary Pitt.
This time, Ms Trench looks at the life of her great great grandfather, George Matcham Pitt.
During his time, Australia went from being a struggling penal colony, to a thriving community with a glowing future.
He was best described as a larger than life character and a master of rhetoric, fond of quoting classic poets and opinionated and yet generous to a fault.
GM, as he was known, went from being a humber farmer to landowner, auctioneer and the founder of one of Australia’s best-known stock and station agents, Pitt, Son and Badgery.
Ms Trench lives in London and spent her younger years in Australia.
The book is available through Amazon, Kobo, Apple and Nook.
The book launch will be held from 2pm and is free for guests, but bookings are essential.
