TEAM members from the Indigenous Sydney Thunder cricket team visited Vineyard Public School recently to promote literacy.
Indigenous Sydney Thunder cricket players Brock Larance and Ben Patterson visited the students on Wednesday, November 7, where they promoted education as part of the Sydney Thunder literacy education program.
The Indigenous Sydney Thunder captain Tyran Liddiard is a school learning support officer (SLSO) at Vineyard Public School and was also involved in the day.
Liddiard said it was “a great opportunity” for the students to play cricket with other Sydney Thunder players, and also to listen to the players read books to the class.
“You could see how excited the kids were that they were able to meet other Thunder players while also having a fun day learning,” Liddiard said.
After the activities students were given a Sydney Thunder flag signed by Tyran Liddiard, Ben Patterson and Brock Larance to top the day off.
