Locals will mark the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day this Sunday, November 11 with services across the region.
Richmond RSL Sub-branch will hold a service at Richmond war memorial, with participants being asked to assemble 10.45am for a 10.55am start. Refreshments will be served afterwards.
Richmond Club will hold a formal flag raising and lowering observance at 11am, with food, beverage and entertainment family specials throughout the day.
Windsor RSL sub-branch will hold a service at McQuade Park (corner Hawkesbury Valley Way and George St), with attendees to assemble at 10.40am. A celebration will be held afterwards at Windsor RSL Club, with a free lunch for those who attend the service, as well as two-up from 1pm to 3pm.
Free activities will also be running for children, including a petting zoo, jumping castle, snow cones and fairy floss.
Australiana Pioneer Village will also conduct its own Remembrance Day service at the village’s Remembrance Garden.
Participants are asked to be seated by 10.45am for a start at 11am sharp.
Members of the public and local organisations are most welcome to place their own floral tributes and the garden will be filled with poppies handmade by Village members, June Greenhalgh and Valmai Turnbull.
Australiana Pioneer Village gates open at 10am and last cars are in at 3pm. Gates close 4pm.
