ACROSS NSW, young drivers are three times more likely to be involved in casualty crashes, which is why NSW Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) introduced a licencing scheme with more supervised driving practice for learner drivers.
In the Hawkesbury, between the years 2013-2017, 64 per cent of learner drivers aged 17-25 years were injured in 874 car crashes. Tragically, six of these young people lost their lives on our roads.
Hawkesbury City Council, in conjunction with RMS, is offering a free workshop for parents and supervisors who are teaching a young person to drive.
The two hour session will be held on Wednesday, November 28 from 6-8pm at the Tebbutt Room, Deerubbin Centre, 300 George Street, Windsor.
The workshop will offer practical advice on safe driving, completing logbooks, planning on-road driving lessons, how to tackle challenges, and the latest licence conditions and road rules.
Book at safety@hawkesbury.nsw.gov.au or by 4560 4498; light catering will be provided.
