Stephen Bali has been re-elected to his fourth term as mayor of Blacktown City Council.
In a 10 to four vote along party lines, Labor Cr Bali defeated Liberal candidate Cr Jess Diaz. Labor’s councillor Tony Bleasdale was re-elected deputy mayor.
“Being elected for a fourth term as mayor of Blacktown City is a great honour, privilege and responsibility. I sincerely thank the councillors of this city for their faith and trust,” Cr Bali said in a statement. “My pledge is to continue to be a strong advocate for our city and a voice for western Sydney.”
Cr Bleasdale also said said he was honoured to be re-elected.
“I am looking forward to continuing in the office and supporting Mayor Bali and my fellow councillors on our transformational journey and using my position to benefit the community of Blacktown,” he said.
The Blacktown Local Government Area (LGA) includes parts of Vineyard, as well as Riverstone, Schofields, and Marsden Park.
