Hawkesbury City FC’s under-18 and under-20 teams have both won through to their grand final qualifiers following impressive victories over the weekend.
The under-18s faced Southern Districts Raiders FC for a morning match on Saturday, September 8 at Christie Park, Macquarie Park.
Despite four cautions issued to Hawks players during the match – including a red card – the locals enjoyed a 3 -2 victory in extra time.
Daniel Zahra found the back of the net twice, while Callum Elliott also slotted one goal home.
The under-18s will now face Sydney University SFC on Saturday, September 15 to decide which team will go into the grand final the following week.
The side finished on 56 points in the regular season, which first grade coach Dean Bertenshaw said was a club record for them.
Meanwhile, the club’s under-20s side came up against a tough and fast Dunbar Rovers FC at the same location later that day.
Despite the opposition’s advantage of a synthetic surface and three yellow cards issued to the local players, Hawkesbury managed to record a convincing four-one victory that will also see them advance to their second semi-final.
Goals were scored by Luke Miskovich, Callum Elliott, and Terry Pannowitz, with the side also helped along by an own goal from the opposition.
The under-20s are now due to face St George City FA at Fraser Park on Sunday, September 16, with the winner going through to the grand final.
Hawkesbury FC’s first grade team had a break from competition last weekend, however has been kept busying preparing to face off against Southern District Raiders this Saturday, September 15 at 5.30pm in its elimination semi-final.
The appearance comes off the back of three wins and a draw for the side over the last five games of the regular season, with the locals able to keep their opposition goal-less in the final three matches against Bankstown City FC, Dunbar Rovers FC and Granville Rage.
The first grade clash is due to take place at Valentine Sports Park in Glenwood.
