A man spotted asleep behind the steering wheel of a vehicle has been charged with drink driving and possessing drugs.
Members of the public alerted officers to a person driving a vehicle on George Street, South Windsor, on the afternoon of August 26, police said in a statement.
“A short time later police located a [man] who appeared to be asleep behind the wheel of a silver Mitsubishi 4x4 vehicle on Hawkesbury Valley Way, Windsor,” police stated.
“Police sighted and seized an axe protruding from under the front passenger seat before waking the male. He refused to exit the vehicle on request, requiring Police to remove him by force.
“After refusing a roadside breath test the male was arrested. On searching the male police located wrapped up tissues with green vegetable matter believed to be cannabis inside them.
“He was taken to Windsor police station. A subsequent breath analysis conducted returned a reading in the mid range.”
A 36-year-old Sackville North man has been charged with mid range PCA, refusing to submit to a breath test, and possessing a prohibited drug.
His licence was suspended on the spot.
He is due to appear before Windsor Local Court next month.
