Two drivers have been charged with being more than four times the legal blood alcohol limit following a two-day operation targeting bad behaviour on the region’s roads.
Highway patrol police and three general duties officers from Windsor took part in Operation Lochness over August 24 and 25, which saw police from Quakers Hill and The Hills as well as Hakesbury targeting speeding, drink and drug driving, and anti-social driving behaviour.
More than 3,300 random breath tests were conducted as well as 57 random drug tests, and 133 speeding infringements issued, police said in a statement.
As part of the operation, a driver was stopped for a random breath test shortly before 9pm on August 25 on Windsor Road, Vineyard, which returned a positive reading.
“A breath analysis at the RBT bus on site returned a reading of 0.212,” police stated.
A 51-year-old Grose Vale man was issued with a field court attendance notice for high range PCA and his licence was confiscated and suspended.
He is due to appear before Windsor Local Court on October 3.
In a separate incident, a driver was stopped for a random breath test on Schofields Road, The Ponds, about 1.10am on August 26, where he returned a positive breath test.
“He was arrested and taken to the nearby RBT bus on site where he returned a breath analysis reading of 0.212,” police stated.
“The [driver] was subject to an alcohol interlock condition and it was found that the vehicle he was driving was not fitted with this device.”
A 26-year-old Schofields man was issued with a field court attendance notice to appear before Blacktown Local Court on September 17 for high range PCA and offences relating to the alcohol interlock condition.
Ten restraint Infringements were also issued during the operation, as well as 18 defect notices.
