Deadline for Gazette pet photography project is August 31

Local residents have until the end of this month to be in the running to be a part of the Gazette’s pet photo exhibition, editor Matt Lawrenece has announced.

Twelve months after its highly successful Hawkesbury 100 Faces project, Gazette photographer Geoff Jones is embarking on a new initiative to capture the special relationship people have with their pets.

Entries have been flowing in for the competition, including that of Sarah Andronicos who rescued her pet galah, Gary, as a baby.

“He is my best friend in the world and he has the funniest personality. He sleeps with me and is basically by my side 24/7,” she said. “He comes everywhere with me, even to work. I work at a pet shop in Richmond where Gary is quite well known by the locals and he also goes to visit my grandma in her nursing home.”

A total of 30 entries will be selected to be part of the project. Send entries to mlawrence@fairfaxmedia.com.au by August 31.
