HAWKESBURY City Netball Association fielded four teams in the State Age Championships, which was held over July 7-9, and the association could not be prouder of the girls.
The 12s, 13s and 14s all competed in the second division, while the 15s, thanks to a great result last season, competed in the championship division against the best teams in NSW for that age.
Association rep convenor Samantha Garton said the girls played their hearts out for each other at the tournament.
“State Age is hard going. With up to 19 games over the 3 days it is hard physically and emotionally,” she said.
“The players need to bring their top game every game as match game matters. The players need to prepare physically and mentally.
“They also need to deal with the emotions and ups and downs of each game. This has be managed by the team coach and manager and then the parents when they go home each night to prepare for the next day.”
In the championship division, the 15s girls, who have played together since 12s, finished 20th.
The 14s finished 13th in division two, while the 12s finished 14th.
The 13s girls had the best finish in division two, winning plenty of games and finishing 4th.
“We were very happy with how the teams performed at this year’s State Age,” Garton said.
“The 15s had some tough games playing the best of the best but they performed exceptionally well to finish 20th in the state.”
