The South Australian government will not rush to rip up sections of a new city tram line but remains committed to adding a right turn at a major intersection, Premier Steven Marshall says.
The new line along Adelaide's North Terrace is due to open this month.
But the previous Labor government ruled that including a right turn at the intersection with King William Street was too complex and costly, adding $37 million to the price of the extension.
The Liberals criticised the move and promised to install the turn, with Mr Marshall telling reporters on Monday his government remained committed to the plan.
However, the premier said the government "won't be ripping up that intersection straight away".
"An investigation is underway. I want to see the details of that inquiry before we commit to a precise time frame," he said.
"But we've made it very clear we want to have a right-hand-turn at that intersection."
