HAWKESBURY City Football Club’s first grade team has bounced back from a tough loss against the Gladesville-Ryde Magic, by running up a huge score against the Western NSW Mariners in Lithgow at the weekend.
In what is usually a very tough trip for Hawkesbury, the team emerged clear winners in the Football NSW NPL 3 clash, with the final score reading 6-1 in the round 18 clash on Saturday afternoon.
All in all it was an enjoyable trip over the Blue Mountains for the club, with the under-20s team winning 1-0 and the under-18s winning 2-1 in Lithgow.
Clement Waoci showed deft touch and kept the scorers very busy as he racked up a hat-trick for Hawkesbury against the Mariners at the weekend, in what was just his second match in the first grade team this season.
Big name recruit Sebastian Gallegos bagged a goal as did Jesse Swain, who was backing up from a match in the under-18s where he also scored.
Flavio Scarone backed up his brace from the previous week against the Magic with another to round out the goal scorers for Hawkesbury.
The win was the club’s 11th victory of the season, and has kept them in touch with the top of the table.
St George Football Association won again, putting them at 39 points, three clear of Hawkesbury and its 11-3-4 record.
Hawkesbury is in a three-way tie with Bankstown FC and the Magic for second-place, with all three teams on 36 points.
In round 19, City will travel to take on the 10-win Southern District Raiders on Saturday night at Ernie Smith Reserve from 7.
