HAWKESBURY City Football Club’s first grade side gave up a close loss to the Gladesville-Ryde Magic at the weekend, and in the process slipped behind their rivals in the standings.
In the Football NSW NPL 3 competition, City went down 3-2 to the Magic in the round 16 match.
City’s Flavio Scarone scored a double, in what were his first goals of the season with the first grade side.
However, the brace for Scarone was not enough. The scores were level 1-1 at half-time, but the Magic grabbed two in the second-half of the game.
The loss was City’s fourth of the season, after a fantastic start.
The Magic overtook City on the ladder, moving into third place, while City is now in in fourth-place.
City, the Magic and Bankstown are all on 33 points with 10 wins and three draws on their ledger.
Crucially, the team is only three points adrift of the first-placed St George City Football Association team on top.
In round 17, City has a tough road trip to take on the Western NSW Mariners in Lithgow on Saturday afternoon.
