THE Hawkesbury Jets representative men had a close win in the basketball over the Central Coast Crusaders in the NSW Basketball Waratah league at the weekend.
The Jets in the division one mens competition had a 95-88 victory in front of their home crowd at the Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium on Saturday night.
Hilary Zakria was the top scorer for the Jets, with 33 points on the night, thanks to four three-pointers, seven two-pointers and another seven free throws.
The Jets’ American player Daniel Calcaterra led the team with five three-point baskets made and 26 points on the night. He also made four two-point baskets and hit three free throws made during the match.
Liam Matthews’ 14-points was enough for third on the team. He hit a three-pointer, made four two-pointers and hit three free throws.
The win was the fourth of the season for the Hawkesbury Jets. The team is eighth on the ladder.
Meanwhile the division 2 youth men had a tough loss against the St George Saints earlier in the evening at the Hawkesbury Indoor Stadium.
The Saints were too simply strong for the Jets, winning 109-56 on Saturday.
Pat Gilmour was the top scorer for the Jets, with 18 points in the match. He made six free throws as well as six baskets.
Second in scoring for the Jets was Musab Mousa with 10 points through two three-point shots and another two baskets.
The Jets youth men team is 13th on the ladder in its division. The team has six wins so far this season.
