WINDSOR Wolves junior Reagan Campbell-Gillard has signed a long-term contract extension with the Penrith Panthers that could potentially be a lifetime deal with the club.
The hulking prop has resigned until the end of the 2024 season.
The past 12-months have seen Campbell-Gillard reach the pinnacle of his career to date.
At the end of the 2017 season, he debuted for the Kangaroos, playing five games for Australia. He has also played two tests for Fiji.
Then in 2018, he was picked in Brad Fittler’s new NSW Blues team, and played admirably in game one. He missed the second State of Origin match because of a broken jaw he suffered while playing for the Panthers.
The Panthers announced the news on Thursday evening.
In a statement issued by Campbell-Gillard, he said he was thrilled to re-sign.
“Panthers is the club I’ve always wanted to play for and I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to make a long-term commitment,” Campbell-Gillard said.
“The fact my future is now secure means I can completely focus on building and improving my game moving forward.”
He added that he thought there were some good years ahead for himself and the Panthers.
“The club has shown a lot of faith in me with this deal and now it’s up to me to repay that faith with my performances,” he said.
“There is so much young talent coming through the ranks here at Panthers. It’s going to be very exciting over the next few years and I can’t wait to be a part of it.”
On Thursday evening while on the Channel 9 broadcast of the Parramatta and St George-Illawarra game, Panthers boss Phil Gould AM said the deal could see Campbell-Gillard potentially be a one-club man.
He added on the call that it was a well-deserved extension.
In a statement released by the Gould and the Panthers, Gould said the club could not be happier with how Campbell-Gillard had performed in recent years.
“Reagan Campbell-Gillard is a tremendous story for our club,” Panthers Executive General Manager Phil Gould AM said.
“He is a local junior who has come through the Panthers development pathways and is now playing the game at the very highest level for NSW and Australia.
“The club is delighted that Reagan has made such a significant commitment to Panthers.
“He is developing outstanding leadership qualities and will be a source of inspiration for all youngsters in the Panthers system.
“We are blessed to have him in our club.”
