LOOKING for some fun activities for the kids these school holidays? Hawkesbury Gallery is holding a range of arty workshops for children.
For the first time, there will be a session on using gold leaf, and there will also be printmaking, sculpting and lettering. And while you’re there, why not check out the gallery’s Art Express exhibition (on show until July 15)?
Golden Peacock: Wednesday, July 11, 10am-2pm. Learn the art of gold leaf gilding. Creating a peacock and a separate artwork of detailed peacock feather using ink and real gold leaf.
Print Mania: Friday, July 13, 10am-2pm. Discover three ways to create print art, including foam print, carved block print and sun prints.
Mythical Creatures From Clay: Wednesday, July 18, 10am-2pm. Using air-drying clay, sculpt and then paint your own fantasy creatures like dragons, griffins and unicorns.
Graphic Letter Art: Friday, July 20, 10am-2pm. Using a variety of media, learn several design techniques to create vibrant artworks using lettering.
