HAWKESBURY City Netball Association sent a team to the state championships, held at Gosford over the June long weekend.
The team was in the under-17s 2 division, however, coach Mandy Bell said all but one of the players in the team was 15.
It was a miserable weekend weather wise, said Bell, but the team produced on court efforts the district should be proud of.
“We only had one girl turning 17 this year, so it was a big step up for them but I was really proud of their efforts,” she said.
“I think it was really good. It puts them in good stead for next year when they will still be able to play in the same competition, they have learned from the experience and be stronger.”
The team spent three nights at Gosford, and Bell said all enjoyed the trip away.
“They were positive on the court every day and never stopped trying,” she said.
“They left their heart and soul on the court, which I think is a good reflection of their attitude and a good reflection upon Hawkesbury netball.
“They were very respectful to the coaching staff and they wore their uniform with pride, they are true ambassadors of the association.”
The team included: Annalyse Garton, Caitlin Lemon, Mikayla Butler, Heidi Heywood, Angela King, Abby Shearer, Madeleine Kobeler, Stephanie Colombrita, Kayla Finch, Katie-Lee, King Alana, Turner, Taryn Finch, Di Smith (manager), Mandy Bell (coach).
The team finished 17th in its division.
