FOR the first time, Hawkesbury Library is participating in the Comic Con-versation festival, offering a range of fun comic-filled activities for school children during the school holidays.
Comic Con-versation is a festival celebrating the best of local comic culture across participating Sydney libraries, and the highlight at Hawkesbury Library will be a humorous comic book-making workshop run by Australian comic book artist, Rob Feldman.
FREE COMIC BOOK DAY: Monday, July 9, 10am-5pm. Drop in to the library and choose from a range of second hand comics. While there, check out the range of comics, manga and graphic novels to borrow. Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor. Free, all welcome; limit two comics per person.
SUPA COASTERS: Tuesday, July 10, 2:30pm-4pm. Using a little kapow, create a set of coasters from old comics. Richmond Branch Library. Free, ages 5 years+.
COMIC KEEPSAKE JOURNAL: Tuesday, July 17, 2pm-4pm. Learn how to make a compendium from scrap paper and old books, and then zap the cover with comic images. Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor. $5, ages 8 years+.
POTIONS LAB: Thursday, July 19, 10am-midday. Harness your super powers to create some weird and wonderful concoctions using kitchen cupboard ingredients. Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor. Free, ages 10 years+.
LIFE OF A COMIC BOOK ARTIST: Friday, July 20, 2pm-4pm. Comic book creator Rob Feldman will present a fun and humorous look at the life of a comic book artist and follow up with a comic drawing workshop. Hawkesbury Central Library, Windsor. $5, ages 7-12 years.
