A day encouraging kindness in the community will be hosted by Arndell Anglican College Junior School to honour one of its former pupils.
B Kinder Day will be held at the school on June 22 in honour of 12-year-old Billie Mayson-Kinder, who died as the result of a freak horse accident on May 29, 2016.
Teachers will create relevant exercises for students to think about where kindness is needed and how they can be nicer to people around them.
Billie’s mum, Danny Mayson-Kinder, hoped to provide children with a Fly High Billie greeting card to remind kids “you don’t always have to be with people to let them know you are thinking of them”. These cards can be taken home to show relatives or friends, to help promote a ripple effect of kindness.
B Kinder Day will also take place on the same day in Queensland, with two schools committed to supporting and empowering children.
With the day now introduced interstate, Ms Mayson-Kinder hopes B Kinder Day will become an annual event for schools nationally and eventually, globally. She has also encouraged the wider community to partake in a small act of kindness and report what they did on the Fly High Billie Facebook or Instagram page.
