HAWKESBURY City Football Club’s first grade team has returned to the winner’s circle after a two-week slide.
While many sporting teams were enjoying a long weekend off, City was battling in some miserable conditions at Bensons Lane against Dulwich Hill.
Their efforts saw the team triumph 2-1 on Saturday evening in the round 14 clash in the Football NSW NPL 3 competition.
James Thurtell scored his first goal of the season for City, while Joaquin Veliz scored his third of the season in the victory.
City climbed back into second place on the ladder thanks to the ninth win of the season for the first grade team.
At the weekend, the club also welcomed a new Uruguayan player named Sebastian Gallegos. The high profile mid-fielder has played junior representative football for Uruguay, and is the latest player from the country to join City.
