PETER Barnes-trained greyhound My Mate Fox won the Richmond Race Club’s Richmond Riches final on Friday night.
The greyhound edged out fellow Hawkesbury trained runner Rev Fred Sloy, trained by Victor Sultana.
My Mate Fox won from the second box, and was a rank outsider, with race favourite Two Times Twice finishing in sixth-place, after starting at a price of $1.90. My Mate Fox’s starting price was $15.10.
Veloce Nero, trained by John Finn, bagged the third place to round out the placings.
Peter Barnes picked up $40,000 thanks to the win, with second place taking $7000 and third place taking $3000.
The Richmond Riches is one of the biggest nights of the year for the Richmond Race Club.
Later this year in November, the club will host its next puppy auction, with dogs sold eligible to race in the 2020 series.
