REFURBISHMENTS are continuing at Richmond Marketplace, with an $11 million ‘facelift’ planned for all common areas and entry points to the centre.
ISPT, which owns Richmond Marketplace, has already redeveloped the carpark, and next they will be refurbishing the centre’s March Street frontage.
This will include expanded external courtyard with additional outdoor seating, a community accessible amphitheatre and a new outdoor children’s play area.
This is ‘stage two’ of the redevelopment. Stage one, completed in late 2006, included new toilets and the refurbishment of the on-site Woolworths.
Construction work is expected to commence in late April, and the centre will continue to trade as normal through the works, which are expected to last around six months.
ISPT’s general manager development services, Chris McCluskey, said stage two of the renovation will be “an exciting development and will considerably boost the customer shopping experience” at the Marketplace.
“Customers and retailers both responded extremely well to the first stage of construction, and we are looking forward to embarking on the next stage of the Centre’s redevelopment,” he said.
He added the newly refurbished centre would become “the shopping destination of choice in the Hawkesbury region once completed”.
