LOOKING for somewhere to take mum this weekend? Give her the gift of nature at the Secret Garden and Nursery’s Autumn Fair.
This Saturday, May 12 - the day before Mother’s Day - the Secret Garden will come to life with live music, market stalls, yummy foods and good cheer.
There will be plants for sale and the opportunity to buy Mother’s Day gifts on the Village Green. Walk through the cottage gardens, enjoy Devonshire teas, coffee, woodfired pizza and a barbecue.
For kids, there will be pony rides and train rides, and they can also use the playground equipment, visit the farmyard animals and walk through the Fairy Garden.
The Secret Garden team hosts this event annually at their new location on Western Sydney University’s Hawkesbury Campus, and funds raised go towards keeping the grounds beautiful for the community to enjoy.
The site is managed by North West Disability Services and has a focus on community inclusion. It is run by volunteers and relies on plant sales and donations.
It is also home to accessible gardens, a mud brick cafe, music room, woodwork workshop, candle making workshop, recycling project, Hawkesbury Valley Men’s Shed and Riding for the Disabled.
“We feel excited to be hosting our second Autumn Fair at the New Secret Garden to share with the community in this beautiful rural setting,” said co-ordinator, Marianne Farrar.
“I am sure everyone will be surprised to see the unique buildings and landscape that our many volunteers and supporters have created.
The Fair begins at 9am and finishes at 4pm, and is located at Clydesdale Lane, Western Sydney University, Richmond Campus (entry via Vines Drive, off Londonderry Road, Richmond – follow the signs).
There will be free entry and parking. For enquiries, phone 0414 784 460 or email secretgarden@nwds.org.au.
