He may not be the prettiest little porker in the paddock, but young Gazette swine Gazza has proven some little pigs certainly can fly.
In the first of 12 races to be held throughout Hawkesbury Show our little brown pig – number three in the silver jacket – blitzes his brothers and sisters to end first.
A healthy crowd turned out for the 10.30am run. Young spectators were called on to rename the racers before they set off around the course.
From the moment the gates opened lil Gazza held his place at the front of the pack.
Gazette editor Matt “Waterhouse” Lawrence said he was thrilled to pick up the early bragging rights.
“That’s one down. Go you good thing,” he said in between champagne sips.
“Here’s hoping there’s plenty more where that came from.”
The Racing Pigs will go around 11 more times throughout the show, with the next race scheduled at noon.
Other races today, Friday, will be held at 2pm and 4pm.
On Saturday and Sunday the race schedule is as follows: 10am, noon, 2pm and 4pm.
