WENTWORTH Healthcare - provider of the Nepean Blue Mountains Primary Health Network (NBMPHN) - is urging residents to take advantage of free bowel cancer screening and information sessions.
This comes after recent data released by the Cancer Institute NSW which listed the Hawkesbury as having the highest bowel cancer rate in Sydney.
If found early, 90 per cent of bowel cancers can be successfully treated.
Eligible Australians are mailed their first free bowel screening test kit around their fiftieth birthday. The test kits are easy to use and come with detailed instructions.
To request one, call the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program Information Line on 1800 118 868 or go to www.cancerscreening.gov.au/bowel.
To enquire about NBMPHN’s free bowel cancer information sessions in conjunction with Men’s Health Services between April and June, individuals and organisations can contact Greg Millan on 0417 772 390 or email greg@menshealthservices.com.au.
