WINDSOR Golf Club’s Robert Lewis took out the nett title at the 2018 NSW Veteran Golfer's Association Stroke-Play Championships, one round of which was hosted at Richmond Golf Club last week.
Camden Lakeside Golf Club scratch marker Ricky Allison held off 2017 champion Laurie Cupples and four-time winner Col Kenning to win the overall title.
Allison recorded rounds of 76 and 71 at Richmond and Dunheved respectively to open a commanding lead but opened the floodgates to his challengers with a final round of 80 at Stonecutters Ridge.
Cupples shot the second-best score of the day in the final round to surge back into contention but Allison had just enough of a buffer to secure this year's title.
The Age Champions trophies were won by Geoff Cranfield in Division One, Drew Simonsen in Division Two and Gary Poland in Division Three.
Richmond's Chris Evans (5th), Ken Powell (7th), and Maurice Yaldwyn (10th) were the best of the local contingent in B grade, whilst Richmond's Allen Davies (16th) was the highest finisher in C Grade.
