Seventy riders braved the heat for Hawkesbury Riding Club’s first training day of 2018 on Sunday, February 11.
Riders worked hard honing their skills across various disciplines, strengthening their partnerships with their mounts.
With more than 300 members, the club is the largest equestrian club of its kind. Starting out in 1978 in what could be described as a fairly rough paddock in Kellyville, the club has since established itself in Clarendon at grounds it shares with Sydney Showjumping Club and the Sydney Sheepdog Club.
The grounds boast a comprehensive set of cross country jumps, four excellent sand dressage arenas, a showjumping arena and a small enclosed arena for beginners.
Training days are held fortnightly with qualified instructors coaching riders of all levels. While primarily an adult riding club, children of members are also welcome to establish their riding skills.
Several riders who have gone on to compete at National and International riders are alumni of Hawkesbury Riding Club.
Apart from training days and club competition days, members also have access to the use of the club’s wonderful cross country, dressage and showjumping arenas during the week.
With the success of this day, Hawkesbury Riding Club is looking forward to yet another prosperous year of training days, clinics and competitions.
