MOTHERS’ groups are lifesavers, many women have found over the decades, when being at home on your own on Planet Baby can be a rude shock.
The local mothers’ group called Meet & Greet which runs out of Hawkesbury Hospital provides mums with an opportunity to meet other first-time mums and is an ideal way to make friends, learn about baby behaviour and care, and normalise the ups and downs that come with becoming a mother.
Registered Nurse and facilitator of the groups Janet Thompson said the babies normally start Meet & Greet when mums feel ready to leave the house – often around four weeks. The babies then graduate from the Meet & Greet group at approximately four to five months of age. The hospital starts two to three groups a year.
The group meets every Tuesday at 1-2.30pm. The group meets next on January 16. Enquiries: 4560 5714.
