WHAT happens when you turn to radio station 2VTR at 89.9FM could change again on December 5. That’s when the temporary licences of Hawkesbury Radio and Hawkesbury Gold expire, and the date that third contender CAMS will be told by ACMA if it’s getting a temporary licence as well.
Currently the former two stations share the airwaves, each having half the week. Hawkesbury Gold is having some success with listeners, with the music mix reported as popular. Hawkesbury Gold is president Rod Rose, secretary John Bryant, vice president Terry Malecki and committee members Ray Medina and experienced broadcaster Jason Stead. Women members are being actively sought.
Mr Malecki said they were setting up a temporary studio at Cranebrook until they find out if their licence is renewed on December 5, after which they will move to the Hawkesbury and arrange accredited training for volunteers. To volunteer contact the station on 0424 492 249.
