The Dural Warriors’ unbeaten start to the Futsal Premier League season is over after an 8-5 loss to the Enfield Allstars on Saturday night.
Greg Giovenali slotted a first half brace for the Warriors to give Dural a half-time lead after falling behind 2-0 early in the game.
After trading goals early in the second and Giovenali sealing his hat-trick, the Allstars kicked on to lead 8-4 before Dural got a late consolation through Nathan Niski.
Warriors coach Rob Varela told Football NSW the Allstars deserved the result.
“It was a sloppy start but a fantastic recovery in the first half from 0-2 down to lead 3-2,” he said.
“The second half we kept creating chances but squandered many opportunities; Enfield countered very well and punished our sloppy errors.
“It was a very disappointing result but full marks to Enfield, they thoroughly deserved the win.”
It was a big win for Enfield as it was the first time Dural had conceded eight goals in a game and it was the third time in 18 games the Allstars have defeated the Warriors.
The loss was also Dural’s first of the season after six rounds but still sit on top of the ladder.
On Saturday, the Warriors play the Inner West Magic in a grand final rematch and top of the table at The Centre, Dural at 6.50pm.
